Analysis of One Piece World Seeker: Raid Prison Island in search of the greatest pirate treasure

We make ourselves comfortable in our Takamikura Carbon and enter Prison Island accompanying Eiichiro Oda's most charismatic band of pirates in a completely original adventure that launches Luffy and the Mugiwara into the sandbox genre.

The treasure hunt

Welcome to our review of One Peace: World Seeker. The main idea from which this new installment of One Piece takes us to Prison Island, a place that rules the Navy and hides a great treasure. Faced with this, our pirates can not resist but when they get there things do not go as they expect and this is where our story begins. The feeling we have had from the beginning is of being in front of a new One Piece movie in which we control what to do at every moment, with an original script by Eiichiro Oda that departs from the manga story to tell us this new adventure.

We must say that this aspect has been the best we have found in One Piece World Seeker and after a couple of hours touring the island and its cities begin to appear details that as a whole have left us a sense of missed opportunity by the guys from Ganbiarion.

Swinging around prison island

The gameplay mechanics found in One Piece: World Seeker we have already seen in other exponents of open world games but this is no problem, at no time the intention of the game is to revolutionize this genre. The problems unfortunately come in the gameplay aspects and its execution. We are faced with a large island that we must explore and in which we can loot materials and chests to build equipment and accessories and cook to get temporary improvements.

We have a system of main and secondary missions that will guide us through the different cities and we will discover the secrets of Prison Island. In this analysis of One Piece World Seeker we have found that, while the main ones are entertaining and have you hooked to the story, especially in the second part of the adventure with a very successful final stretch, the secondary missions sin too much of the mechanics of errand boy.

The main story consists of 16 missions that we can easily complete in 12 hours, if we want to squeeze the game to the maximum and perform the extra missions of each member of the Straw Hats the duration can be shot up to 20-25 hours.

As for the movement and exploration are quite fun, swinging between trees or by the skyscrapers of the great city of the map, if the range of Luffy's arm had been longer or we had an unlockable ability that allowed this would have been a perfect aspect.. It is true that we have missed some more bustle in the cities but it really does not affect the gameplay or in the face of the story.

Unleash the full power of Luffy

In terms of combat we have two main modes, the observation Haki, much faster and agile focused on dodging and heavy weapon Haki based on heavy hits and blocks. From a certain point in the story we will also have available the powerful Gear Fourth, in the manga this is the most devastating technique of Luffy but it seemed to us that here is not exploited one hundred percent.

The combat is mainly based on linking combos through the attack button, in addition, to attack from a distance we will have a reticle as if it were a shotter to extend our arm and punch. The camera in this type of game is usually fundamental and after the analysis of One Piece: World Seeker we felt that it was not up to par and that when it came to the system of fixing enemies was free.

There is an aspect in certain battles that can be problematic, at certain times or specific battles of the story that we delimit the fighting area and if we get out of it by our movement or chasing our enemy we automatically give it for lost and we must repeat the mission.

The stealth, apart from a couple of missions in which we are required, we have not used it much and as a personal consideration is shocking to see a character like Luffy, with such an explosive personality, in infiltration tasks.

What we have enjoyed enormously have been the battles against final bosses, they are a treat for fans, appearing iconic enemies of the series and will have a plus of complexity where we will have to approach more carefully.

A graphical and sound section to the height of its history

Visually One Piece: World Seeker is a very nice title, with large and varied scenarios that faithfully follow the style of the manga. In addition, the cel shading that incorporates is very successful recreating the animations of Luffy and all the Mugiwara in an exceptional way. As usual the level of the "extras" is lower than the modeling that we find in all the main characters.

The sound section is also one of the best that we highlight in this analysis of One Piece: World Seeker, with our Kimera V2 and its 7.1 sound you will not miss any detail. The soundtrack is very much in line with what we are used to in the anime with the same effects when we execute the Gomu Gomu no Bazooka for example. Also having the original voices of the Japanese anime is a plus that makes us get fully into this adventure. Although the voices come to us in Japanese, all texts are perfectly translated into Spanish.

Conclusion

To conclude our analysis of One Piece: World Seeker we found a good game with very good ideas that has failed to take full advantage of them. The charisma of Luffy and the straw hat pirates with the great script by Eiichiro Oda make you want to go deeper into the story to live a new adventure with them. Unfortunately, the aspects of the gameplay that we have discussed above detract a little from the experience, but if you are a fan of One Piece, you will enjoy this game enormously and if you did not know this saga, which has been giving war in Japan for twenty years, we have no doubt that you will finish the game and want to know more about their adventures. We have enjoyed this adventure on a PS4 thanks to a code provided by Bandai Namco.
